3rd - 8th August 2008 For the 2008 Nationals, the Miracles are returning to Brixham, in the beautiful Torbay, South Devon. We were last here in 2005, when we had a great week's sailing and socialising, and we're looking forward to going back! We'd love for 2008 to be the biggest and best nationals yet, and we'd love to see you there! If you've never been to a Nationals before, read the FAQ for more information. For the sailors: Sailing is either in the bay, or just outside, depending on the wind, with two championship points races each day. There will also be youth and junior races, and the 'less competitive' extra races (non-spinnaker, crews and single hander' run throughout the week. Sailing is at a wide-variety of levels, from those entering their first nationals to ex-champions. For the non-sailors: Brixham is a great family venue - there are scenic walks, beaches and shops all close by. Torquay is only a few miles away, with it's rich history and culture - you can visit the 2 million year old Kents Cavern, or the 12th Century Torre Abbey. Nearby Paignton has an excellent zoo, and there is also a model village at Babbacombe. If you want to watch the sailing, good views can be had from the harbour wall, or from the top of the cliffs at Berry Head. Apres-sail: Evening socials are organised throughout the week, and in the past have included meals, BBQs and quiz nights. Brixham Yacht Club is easily accessible from the town and nearest campsite, and ideal for such socials, being large and comfortable, with a good view across the harbour, a well-stocked bar (very important for the apres-sail!), friendly staff and a pool table (competition anyone...?). Accommodation: In 2005 many people stayed at Centry Touring Caravan & Tent Site: Mudberry House, Centry Road, Brixham, South Devon, TQ5 9EY More information: http://www.englishriviera.co.uk http://www.brixhamyachtclub.com/ More information and entry forms coming soon..!
