Saturday 1st September Thornton Steward Sailing Club
The Event : A one day event. Briefing at 10:15 First race 11:00 Why not make this a two day event by visiting Killington the next day ?(it's only 40 miles away)
Entry fee: £8 / boat About the Club: Thornton Stewards Sailing Club is based at Thornton Steward Reservoir, 5 miles west of Bedale, North Yorkshire, at the entrance to Wensleydale. At 35 acres it is large enough to give good tactical racing, yet small enough to feel safe for the nervous or newcomer as all areas of the water are visible from the clubhouse. The Clubhouse was built by members and has changing rooms with showers and toilets and a main room with lounge and kitchen area. In front are is patio with “steps” which double as seats which go down to an enclosed grass area in which small children can play. From here all the water can be viewed and it is a distictly pleasant place to watch the world go by. The attractive scenery and the footpath network in the area make it a good place for those who do not wish to sail.
How to get there: Accommodation: Camping will be available at the clubhouse from 5pm Friday until Sunday morning. Food: The galley will be open from 9am Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dinner on Saturday evening will be £8/head. Please contact Kenneth to book in advance (contact details below). There won't be a bar, so bring your own booze!
