Saturday 17th May

Hornsea Sailing Club

The Event : A one day event,

3 Races

Entry fee: TBC

About the Club: Located in East Yorkshire, Hornsey SC sail on Hornsea Mere, which was originally an inlet from the sea but deposits from coastal erosion further north have produced a landlocked lake. The Mere is Yorkshire's largest fresh water lake having in excess of 250 acres of navigable water and is set amidst outstanding scenery. It is very safe - in fact one of the safest sailing waters in the region.

How to get there:

Hornsea is located on the East Coast approximately 12 miles south of Bridlington and 12 miles North East of Hull. Most visitors approach Hornsea through Beverley, along the A1035 to Leven and then take the A1244 sign posted to Hornsea. This road approaches the town along the northern shore of the Lake.

On entering the town, follow the signs for Hornsea Freeport (shopping centre) and Withernsea; this will take you through a set of traffic lights in the town centre. Approximately 50 yards after the traffic lights look out for sign posts 'To the Mere' - the entrance is on your right between two cottages. The sailing club is at the end of this lane. If you come to a road junction with a right fork sign posted Hull,
you've gone too far - spin around the road island - the Mere entrance is now on your left just after a row of white cottages. If towing a boat, beware of traffic exiting the narrow entrance before pulling in - landlubbers don't understand that it's not easy to reverse back onto a road with a boat!

Food: tbc

Accommodation: Unfortunately Camping is not available at the club.
